How to get started
The first three steps.
NRC’s full easement process has seven steps.
Reach out
Send us your basic information: the location and size of your property, current land use, and the best way to reach you. We usually respond within two business days.
Site visit
After our initial conversation, we will send an expert in ecological services to take a look at your property, take photos, and create a report for our committee to review. The costs of this report are required from the land owner.
Protect your land
Our review committee looks at the report and makes a recommendation. If your land is a good fit, we work with you and your advisors on next steps.
What we do
How a conservation easement works.
A conservation easement is a permanent agreement that protects your land while you continue to own and use it.
Whether it’s a family farm, a piece of forest, or land that supports wildlife, we work with you and your advisors on the details. Once an easement is in place, NRC visits the property each year to confirm its terms are being followed.
